A routine health check for Fomli, provides a unique experience for the newly appointed Chair of the Kiwi for Kiwi Trust.
Richard Leggat, Chairman of the K4K trust joined a bunch of Tutukaka Locals to locate and check a female kiwi released at Tawapou on 24th Oct 2018. Under the guidance of Pete Graham, an approved kiwi handler from the NRC, Fomli ( short for Friends of Matkohe/Limestone Island) was located, then quietly weighed and measured, and the transmitter transferred to her opposite leg.
In spite of the dry summer she was in good health. Finally she was calmly replaced back to her favoured territory.
