Dog Aversion Training
A control method that has helped teach dogs to not go after kiwi is avoidance training. Dogs are taken on a leash past kiwi scent and if they show interest are given a small electric shock, most dogs quickly learn to ignore this scent when taken past a second time. Kiwi Listening
Presently we have 7 listening points between Ngunguru and Sandy Bay. These have been monitored for over 10 years and show an increasing population over this same period, thanks to the predator control. Young birds are surviving in the wild and moving out to establish new territories. The listening procedure involves counting the kiwi calls at a designated site, for 2 hours from 6pm to 8pm, on 4 nights within the listening dates indicated below. Find out more…

Weed Busting
We need your help, so join us for one of our weeding activities! There is something for everyone on these events .. you might be a good weed spotter (able to identify plants) and work with someone who can do the bending and pulling, sit in a patch and weed out small seedlings, amble along with a team doing a weed walk, or join a mission where we clamber through the undergrowth and do some hardcore weed slaying!
