How our Kiwi Spent Christmas

Updates on the busy Tutukaka Coast kiwi from Nan Pullman leading up to Christmas.

9th December

Couple of maps showing location of Sheryl, Henreeta, Kicker and Kokiri. Looks like Henreeta is checking out Kicker!!!!! Sheryl is annoyed and gone the other way. Kokiri is sitting high on the hill above Sandy Bay. Check out his vista.

14th December

I found Henreeta right out on the coastal cliffs above the beach; Sheryl continues to wander down a valley and Kicker is down at the Lagoon – probably preparing Xmas cocktails.

15th December – Kokiri

Kokiri is on the move again. We heard him call quite close last night so thought he may have come down from the dizzying heights above Sandy Bay. Sure enough this morning the signal was coming from the east. Interesting. Thought he might have crossed the road and headed down the stream but no he was still on the right hand side but up above the road in a planted area (Mal and Nan planted) next to Gill and Dave. He is within 200m of the beach!!!!

21st December

Currently Sheryl is back in the patch of bush near where she was released. Henreeta has moved slightly further around the northern headland above the raupo swamp she discovered at Horseshoe Bay. Kicker is still in his beach side residence at Tawapou.

Sounds like Henreeta is still to the north. Langman’s Lane landowners and Orca technician.
Henreeta is at Horseshoe Bay
Could these be Henreeta’s footprints in sand at Horseshoe Bay

Sheryl’s signal pointed to the log.
I wonder if Sheryl is in the log … yep
We found you Sheryl in a log in Puriri Bush, Tawapou
