Still lots of noisy kiwi calling at night around the district!
Here’s a end of winter update on our Kiwi, sounds like a lot of winter wombling!
Kokiri | Still located behind the houses at Matapouri Bay. Some of the neighbours are sure he pops out at night to drive the dogs mad! Very likely as he is one contrary kiwi male, and annoyingly ,still showing no signs of settling down and raising a family.

Harry | living in a nice busy valley to the north of Middle Gable Way. No sign of nesting but he is quite settled, so there may well be a female in the neighbourhood.
Fomli |Seems settled over near the coast at Tawapou. No further news.

Marohi | He really is our star. He has been sitting on an egg, possibly two, now for 35 days. Well settled in the Tutukaka Forest Block, we are confident he will be producing his next chick around 70 days. In a week or so we will locate his nest and set a trail camera up so we can observe what is going on. Watch this space at the end of September.
Generally, though, still lots of noisy kiwi calling at night round the district.
